Spalletti: We Need Two Or Three Top Players To Keep Up Luciano Spalletti believes it will be too much to ask for his side to win the Scudetto this se

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti believes his side are not strong enough to mount a serious challenge to Scudetto rivals Inter. Roma beat Atalanta 2-1 at the Stadio D’Italia in Bergamo to keep their hopes alive however Spalletti believes that Inter are just too strong.

The Giallorossi are seven points behind the league leaders however their coach does not believe that this is the difference between the two teams but rather a lack of superstar players.

“What Inter have been doing is just fantastic but we will try and do even better. We have even won without Totti at times this season and this says a lot. To reach Inter’s level? We would need at least two or three top class players.”

“We are not really disappointed with the seven point gap. If a team has such an advantage then we have to applaud them for doing so well.”

“It will be really difficult to try and get back to within touching distance of Inter. It’s going to be hard to try and tell my team that we can do it. To reach them they would have to have an average season and we would have to win all our games.”

Roma are just about keeping pace with the Nerazzurri who cannot stop winning. Spalletti will have to ensure that his side do not slip up because he knows only too well that his Scudetto dream will be all but over if the Giallorossi take their foot off the pedal.
