The Russian papers had been full of reports that the highly promising 17-year-old Torpedo Moscow defender had reached a deal to join Arsene Wenger's young charges at the Emirates Stadium in the summer, but the French coach was quick to shoot down the claim.
"At the moment we are talking about a prior interest from Arsenal," explained Alexei Skoroed. "Their interest was from the junior side."
The agent went on to reveal the nature of his alleged contact with the London side, as well as making reference to other reports of interest from Italian giants Juventus.
"I got information from one European agent, but there have not been anymore phone calls from England at the moment," he added.
"Earlier Italians were also interested in signing him, but he got injured and only came back last October."
