Reading had some great opportunities to take the lead at the Madejski Stadium and were level until two late strikes, the first from Wayne Rooney in the 75th minute which gave the Red Devils the lead which was then doubled in injury time by Cristiano Ronaldo.Coppell felt, though, that his side pushed the visitors all the way and that the 2-0 score-line wasn’t representative of the game itself.
"We put an awful lot into the game and tested them to the end. But the quality of Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo proved too much.
"We had a real go at them and although it looks like a routine 2-0 victory, it certainly wasn't that.
"We didn't want to sit back and we often feel our best defence is to attack and it almost paid off today."
The result sees Reading remain in thirteenth-place with twenty-two points while Manchester United retain their position at the top of the Barclays Premiership on fifty-one points.
