With United yet to concede a goal this year, this weekend's match with Reading brings with it an additional source of pressure.
To this end, Ryan Giggs feels that strong defending is a must against a Royals outfit that won't merely play in their own half.
The Welshman told MUTV, "The way our defence is playing at the moment is really helping us.
"We have had so many clean sheets this season and you need that foundation to go out and play with flair.
"Reading are a team that won't just sit back and defend. They will go out and try to score goals so hopefully it will be an open game."
Aptly enough, the two sides drew 0-0 at Old Trafford on the first day of the season.
