Hamann: Eriksson After Podolski

The Bayern Munich striker has been the subject of much speculation since he admitted that he might look for a new club at the end of the season after spending much of this season on the bench.

"Sven asked me what I thought of Lukas," revealed Hamann in the News Of The World. "I told him that Podolski is quick, skilful and dangerous in front of goal. Lukas is the striker at the top of Eriksson's wish list. He wants to sign him at all costs."

Eriksson could soon find he is treading on thin ice. Bayern Munich general manager Uli Hoeness has slammed his opposite number at Stuttgart for expressing an interest in signing the player.

"It's not correct to start flirting with a player who still has a two-and-a-half-year contract at another club," roared Hoeness. "I don't know how Stuttgart would react if we said we were interested in Mario Gomez."

Bayern president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has been more polite in fending off Man City's advances.

It is normal that some clubs are interested in our player," said the former German international. "Our next manager Jurgen Klinsmann has communicated to us a list of the players that are going to be part of his project, and Podolski's name is included."

He also rubbished rumours of a £12 million price-tag for the 22-year-old.

"Podolski has been under-rated, he is worth much more money. Manchester City are one of the clubs interested but for us this file is closed."
