Higuain Believes Good Football Will Return Gonzalo Higuain thinks it is only a matter of time before Real Madrid return to the stunning form they sho

Real once again struggled to get their rhythm going against Levante at the weekend despite recording a 2-0 victory, but Higuain believes that the good football will return in the coming weeks.

"The team is always happy after a victory like the one against Levante as we took advantage of our opportunities despite not playing well. But we know that the continuity and the good play will return," he told Marca.

"Before breaking for Christmas we were doing well. We had one week off and it is difficult to return at the same pace, but we are all calm as the most important thing is to win games. Now we will try to recover the form."

Despite making a record breaking start in the first-half of the La Liga campaign, Higuain still feels that Madrid cannot become complacent in the second half of the season.

"Since the victories are worth three points in this league, there have not been numbers like ours. We are breaking records but we cannot relax because difficult matches come and we only can think about continuing working to win the league."

Real's own seemingly impossible comeback in last season's title race means that the players are fully aware that the title race is not over, but Higuain thinks there is a great togetherness in the squad that will see them through.

"We are on the way to the title, but we know that last season it was us that overcame a seven-points deficit... to continue winning is the important thing. The group is in high-spirits; it is a great atmosphere but we have difficult months ahead."

The next week sees Los Merengues host Real Mallorca in the second leg of their Copa del Rey tie and then face Atlético in the Madrid derby. Higuain believes they are capable of achieving victories in both matches.

"It is possible to win both games, we have the squad. Wednesday will be complicated since we are down from the first game, but we have ninety minutes at home to obtain it and we are secure at the Bernabéu. We will starting thinking about the Atlético game on Thursday."

Finally, speaking further on the Mallorca tie, which sees Madrid trial 2-1 from the first leg, Higuain believes that keeping a clean sheet - and thus avoiding conceding an away goal - is vital to their progression in the competition.

"We suffered a defeat in Mallorca but it should not be too difficult to reverse it. In the Bernabéu it is possible to be obtained. Mallorca is a great team, they will come to play and to punish us in the attacking quarter, but if we keep their score to zero we will have a great chance," he concluded.
