
The 24-year-old said he had turned down offers from Premier League sides in order to stay in France with the serial Ligue 1 champions.
However, Lyon president, Jean-Michel Aulas, said with more than a hint of sarcasm: "He has just announced that he is staying? That's great.
"But he can also say the day after that he's leaving for Spurs or Middlesbrough because they gave him what he wants."
Aulas added: "What bothers me most is his indecision. If I knew that he said this because he really wanted to stay, I would be relieved."
Fred had earlier been keen to leave Les Gones after losing his place in the first team to in-form striker Karim Benzema.
