
“I’m not planning with him in mind” Magath admitted. “He can leave straight away. I wanted to sit down and talk to him straight after the first half of the season, but Simon was on holiday.
“Now we’ll have a new number one” he added.
It is unclear whether number two Lenz will step up, or whether Wolfsburg will be signing a new keeper.
Potential candidate Heinz Müller from Barnsley has stated his intention to remain in England, but it is understood that Swiss keeper Diego Benaglio from Portuguese side CD Nacional is being targeted by Magath.
Since his 2003 move from 1860 Munich, Jentzsch has made 142 Bundesliga appearances for the ‘Wölfe’.
However, he had become increasingly under-fire for some below-par performances. The low point came in round 15 when Magath hauled him off at half time in their match with Eintracht Frankfurt.
The keeper has been linked with a move to struggling Derby County in the Premiership.
