Speaking at the press conference where new goalkeeper José Manuel Pinto was presented to the press, Laporta stated that there is "a unanimous decision not to sell Ronaldinho" among the members of the Barcelona board of directors.Ronaldinho has been constantly linked with both Chelsea and AC Milan since anyone can remember and earlier this week, Inter Milan looked like they may enter the chase after receiving a bumper sponsorship deal from Nike.
Despite this, Laporta reiterated that the Brazilian forward will not be sold in January.
"We planned this campaign counting on Ronaldinho and will follow this logic in a coherent manner. He is an important player for the team and we do not have any intention to sell him."
Laporta also requested "respect" for Ronaldinho, saying that the twenty-seven year old is "trying to recover from his injury in the best possible way".
Frank Rijkaard was quick to back up Laporta, confirming that Ronaldinho is still part of his first-team plans.
"He is working very well, very hard, often in two daily sessions... When he is physically well, he will return to the team," Rijkaard concluded.
