
Now in 2008 Maldini is incredibly still playing football at the very highest level and by a strange twist of fate, this Sunday the 39-year-old will be playing the same opposition he played exactly 23 years ago.
Maldini is set to retire from football at the end of the season and he is hoping to sign of his career in style
"The dream game to sign off as a footballer will be the Champions League final in Moscow," said the star.
During his illustrious career, Maldini has won seven Scudetti, five Champions League titles, two World Club Cups and one Coppa Italia among many other trophies.
He is also the Italian record cap-holder, having represented the Azzurri on 126 occasions. The defender played in four World Cups and three European Championships and without question will go down in history as the best defender of his generation.
