The 27-year-old has been a regular in Frank Rijkaard's team once again as they have struggled to turn around their away day displays and keep pace with Real Madrid.
After joining the club in 1997, Xavi was promoted to the first team in 1999 by Louis van Gaal and as one of the longest serving players feels even more sensitive.
"It feels bad as I am a big Barça fan and I have been here for many years and because I am from there the criticism affects me even more," he explained.
"But I am fine and I have faith in myself and the team."
After trying to stick to their passing philosophy witrhout obtaining the results, Xavi admitted that Barça have modified their approach when required to.
"In some games we have changed thing slightly and we know that it is more important to progrss and to do so by working hard," he continued.
Finally, the club captain was asked yet again about Ronaldinho's importance to the side and he defended the beleaguered Brazilian superstar.
"People should not forget what he has done for Barça and thye must give him a chance. We need him in the team," he added.
