The Liga strugglers are keen to boost their ranks ahead of the second half of the season, with Geovanni topping their shopping list.
"There's no problem there," said Roberto Assunçao, who serves both as Geovanni's agent and step-father.
"The contract will last for a year and a half. The player is delighted to have captured the interest of Deportivo, and he hopes that everything can move forward."
However, Geovanni remains a Manchester City player for now.
"Everything depends on Geovanni's release," admitted Assunçao.
"Over the past few days things have progressed a little, and we'll have another meeting on Monday with the aim that Manchester City release him."
That could be a sticking point. The 28-year-old remains under contract until June 30th, and the Citizens are holding out for a transfer fee for the former Barcelona man.
Further, Sven Goran Eriksson may in fact wish to hold on to the attacker, given the recent injury to Nery Castillo. While the young Mexican plays a somewhat more advanced role at times, Geovanni is still able to fill his boots.
