
The Portuguese left Chelsea at the end of September and has since been out of work, while Keegan missed most of Mourinho's tenure in English football having himself been out in the management wilderness for almost three years.
But 11 years after his departure from Newcastle United the first time around, Keegan says he would relish the chance to go up against the Portuguese tactician.

"I thought Mourinho was just fantastic," said the former England boss. "I thought he was a breath of fresh air. The sooner he comes back into the Premier League the better.
"You need the mix - the guys who are tacticians, and the guys who are characters, and the Premier League is a fantastic mix of managers."

Keegan actually got the better of Mourinho in their only two encounters to date while boss of Manchester City. He was the only manager to inflict defeat upon Chelsea in the Blues' first title winning season, and also snatched a draw at Stamford Bridge.
