A number of keepers were mentioned in connection with the vacancy, but in the end they decided to go with Celto Vigo's José Manuel Pinto, who joins on loan until the end of the season.
Pinto stated that he is coming to the Catalan giants "with enormous commitment", describing himself as "a great worker" who has come in "to help the team", but is also looking forward "to winning some titles".
He arrives as a substitute to first-choice goalkeeper Victor Valdes and knows that he will have his work cut-out if he wants to get a chance in the starting eleven because "Victor is in great form at the moment".
It was suggested to Pinto that he might be considered for a start against Villarreal in the quarter final of the Copa del Rey, although he said that "only the manager can say" when asked whether this had been discussed.
For now Pinto is just looking to adapt to the surroundings at the Nou Camp and to obtain his "maximum level" as soon as possible.
He believes that "Barcelona are on the up" and that this could be a great chance for him as "they are in three competitions with many opportunities".
