Beckham, who played his 99th game for his country in the 3-2 defeat to Croatia in November, has repeatedly insisted that he wishes to reach the century-mark in the friendly at Wembley.
Capello is due to announce his squad in just over a fortnight and many England fans will want Beckham to be named captain as regular skipper John Terry looks doubtful for the game through injury.
However, while the Italian feels his former Real Madrid player still has a lot to offer, he nonetheless said he will not make selections based on sentiment.
"All managers have sentiment - but they also need to take decisions," said Capello.
"Beckham is important for England and can still give a lot, but as everybody knows, all the players are equally important to me and start from the same position, including David Beckham."
