
The Eastlands manager is said to have £10m (13.3m euros) at his disposal for the January transfer window, with just over half of this currently earmarked for Dinamo Zagreb striker Mario Mandzukic.
Regardless of who signs, though, it's expected to happen sooner rather than later.
"We are working on things and hopefully they will happen, but it must be soon," said Eriksson.
Hinting that a new forward or attacking midfielder is on the cards, he added, "We have to create more chances in games. That's been a bit of a problem all season."
City have won just one of their last six matches in the Premier League, falling from fourth to seventh after losing out at Everton at the weekend.
