Flamengo Confident Of Ronaldo Swoop Despite making a scoring return with Milan over the weekend, rumours of Ronaldo's departure to Flamengo have cont

Since leaving Real Madrid for Milan in January last year, Ronaldo's time with the Rossoneri has been wrecked by a string of recurring injuries, with many suspecting the Brazilian phenomenon's career at the top level was over.

As such, rumours of transfers back to his native Brazil and even to the United States' Major Soccer League began surfacing, rumours which Milan vehemently denied.

Two weeks into the transfer window, no move has come to pass, and Ronaldo, and without being incredibly mobile, Ronaldo proved sharp and decisive in Milan's 5-2 win over Napoli at the weekend, scoring two crucial goals and playing approximately two thirds of the game - his first back from injury.

El Fenomeno looked in great spirits throughout and, assuming he can stay fit, there is no reason to suggest he won't continue to play a crucial role in Milan's push for a successful second half to the season.

Nevertheless, Flamengo's marketing vice-president Ricardo Hinrichsen has declared on Brazilian radio that the club are still trying to acquire the ex-Internazionale man's services.

"The Flamengo board is going to present their new proposal in 15 days with all our strength," he said. "Ronaldo is closer to becoming a Flamengo player than a few days ago."

If anything, Ronaldo scoring for Milan seems to have increased the chances of a move.

"It is much more likely we will find a sponsor with Ronaldo in good shape on the field," he added. "If he scores again he will make our job easier."

So the question is: should Milan fans back him to score, or hope that he does not over the rest of this month?
