Frankfurt Close To Caio Signing After the capture of Martin Fenin from FK Teplice for €3.5 million, Eintracht Frankfurt look set to seal a deal for B

The 21 year old, full-name Cesar Alves dos Santos, plays for Palmeiras at the moment and has been identified as a potential transfer target by Eintracht scout Bernd Hölzenbein.

It is understood that Frankfurt are offering in the region of €4 million for the young playmaker.

“Caio is a young player similar to Fenin, from whom we expect a lot in the coming years” explained Frankfurt boss Heribert Bruchhagen. “I hope we clinch his signature.”

Eintracht seem to be entering a period where their philosophy is changing. They have always been a prudent club, and in the summer only brought in players on free transfers (Inamoto and Mahdavikia).

“They are investments for the future” expanded Bruchhagen.

Caio has scored 9 goals in 27 appearances for Palmeiras this season.

There also appears to be some good news regarding Eintracht’s search for a second striker. Assistant trainer Armin Reutershahn was in Athens at the weekend to watch Evangelos Mantzios in action for Panathinaikos against rivals Olympiacos.

“Mantzios is relatively big, strong in the air, can hold the ball up and fits the profile we are after. But we will not be moving on their demands”

The Greek club are demanding €3 million for the striker, while the German side are reportedly offering around half that.

Frankfurt are hoping that after Panathinaikos’ signing of Helder Postiga, they will be willing to accept their offer for Mantzios.
