The player landed badly on his ankle after challenging for the ball during the morning session.
This is the latest blow to affect Roma and the Giallorossi will be without several key players.
It seems as if the player has twisted his right ankle and has suffered medial ligament damage according to Roma’s medical staff.
The Brazilian will be out for up to four weeks which is bad news to coach Luciano Spalletti. Juan has impressed this season and he has been a rock at the back for the Giallorossi. The Brazilian is always in Spalletti’s starting XI and no doubt he will be missed for the game against Catania.
Matteo Ferrari will take Juan’s place as Spalletti looks to shuffle his team around. The Roma coach will have to pick a makeshift side as Totti and Taddei are ruled out with flu and Marco Andreolli is also out with injury. Ahmed Barusso is away on duty with Ghana in the African Nations Cup.
