Sven: I'm At City To Stay Manchester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson is enjoying life at Eastlands so much he's already looking into extending his cont

Manchester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has already been told by owner Thaksin Shinawatra that he has a job for life, and the Swede is enjoying his role at Eastlands so much that he's already considering extending his current three-year deal.

"I hope to stay here many years and passing football is the way we are going to play," said the former England boss.

Passing Culture

"To be manager at a big club in the Premier League makes me happy and I have settled in well at City. When I buy new players they will be players who play in that style, who want to pass the ball."

The Swede was notably frustrated with his side's inability to keep the ball on the floor during the 1-0 league defeat at Everton last weekend, but thought they showed signs of improvement in the midweek Cup win over West Ham.

"It was important to me that we played good football or at least tried to do so against West Ham," he said. "We showed the right intentions and sometimes even tried to play too much - there was one point where I am sure Richard Dunne thought he was Maradona!

Elano & Petrov

"Elano is almost back to the kind of form with which he started for us," commented Sven. "And Martin Petrov is in great shape; he is not only dribbling well and putting in some great crosses but he is defending as well, which is good to see. I hope they play like that until the end of the season."

Exit Door

Nevertheless, not everyone has made a favourable impression with the new boss, who has revealed he is willing to let some squad members depart this month. "Some of them are playing for, or close to playing for, their country in this summer's European Championships and it is only fair that they get the chance," Eriksson explained.

Goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson has been most heavily tipped for an Eastlands exit, with Ousmane Dabo also out of favour and strike duo Georgios Samaras and Rolando Bianchi linked with moves abroad.
