“I chose Valencia because they are a great club and I was also very excited about the prospect of playing football in Spain,” the 22-year-old said. “I’m very happy to be here. It’s a significant move in my career, as Valencia is one of the most important clubs in Spain.”
Ajax acquaintances
Maduro was set to go through a medical today before signing a deal which Spanish media estimate will reward Ajax with two million euros. And the defensive midfielder will actually have the chance to play under Ronald Koeman, who had promoted him to the Godenzonen first team, but actually left the club a day before Maduro made his debut!
“I know Koeman well. He’s a great coach and we knew each other already, from the past in Amsterdam.” Maduro said.
Should the deal be struck after all, it will be Valencia’s second this month, after they signed another defensive midfielder, Argentine Ever Banega from La Boca Juniors for 18 million euros.
