
He becomes the third Argentine to leave Cadiz in recent weeks, following the departures of Lucas Lobos and Matías Pavoni to Tigres and Asteras Tripolis respectively.
Vella began his career in Argentina at Newell's Old Boys, where he made over eighty appearances before signing for Cadiz in 2005 ahead of their sole season in the Primera Division.
The club were not really able to compete with the big teams in the division despite an influx of new players and finished nineteenth, sending them back to the second division.
Upon relegation he returned on loan to Newell's, but was recalled by Cadiz after one year and spent last season and half of this in La Segunda with the Andalusian club.
He becomes Vélez's second signing in the January transfer window alongside the Chilean Waldo Ponce.
